This is a vital part of an Equine Physiotherapist’s role. Correcting and treating a physiological issue can only have a positive long-term outcome if the horse’s way of going and rehabilitation is correct. I will work with the owner, trainer, vet and farrier to find a suitable programme of exercises to ensure the correct muscles are worked, proprioception is enabled and fitness is regained.

The prescribed programme may include:

  • Rehabilitation programme post-injury or surgery
  • Programme to rebuild wasted muscles from prolonged box rest
  • Proprioceptive exercises for the horse to re-educate movement
  • Exercises to ensure the rider is working in harmony with the horse
